West Mecklenburg HS Prom Requirements
Juniors and Seniors are eligible to attend and may purchase a guest ticket. Guests may be any high school student or early graduate (same academic year) with an approved guest form from the school Principal. Freshmen & Sophomores are not Eligible to attend Prom. Guests who do not attend WMHS must be approved by the administration prior to purchasing a ticket. Guest applicant forms must be completed prior to ticket purchase.

DO NOT PURCHASE A GUEST TICKET UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF APPROVAL! If you purchase a ticket before receiving notification of approval, NO REFUNDS will be issued.
Below are the disciplinary/behavior requirements within the current school year:
OSS: Students with 3 days of OSS beginning 3/27 may NOT attend the prom.
ISS: Students with more than 5 days of ISS beginning 3/27 may NOT attend the prom.
Tardy: Students with more than 10 tardies (2L) TOTAL, beginning March 27th , may NOT attend prom.
Guest: Guests with 3 OSS, more than 5 days of ISS or 10 tardies may not attend the prom as a guest.
Mid-Year Graduates: If you plan to be a mid-year graduate, you can attend prom as a GUEST of a current WMHStudent in good standing.
Students attending MUST have passed/ passing at least 3 of the 4 classes for the 3rd Quarter and at the time of ticket purchase. Any student not taking a full load of courses must be passing ALL classes.z
*Students who are ineligible to attend the prom may submit an appeal to administration. Appeals will be accepted September 1st through March 7th. No appeals will be considered after March 7th. Students will be notified of the appeal decision within two weeks of the appeal’s submission. Guests are not able to appeal.
* Once a ticket is purchased and a student encounters a disciplinary infraction or is not meeting the academic requirement, there will be no refunds given.
*Tickets are non-transferable. Absolutely NO guest swaps once forms have been completed and approved.
*Please note that refunds will not be issued for any reason*
Prom Dress Code
Prom is a formal and special night for WMHS students. We hope to maintain the integrity and formality of this night by implementing these simple dress code suggestions as such any students not appropriately dressed will be turned away at the door. There are hundreds of beautiful, tasteful, and appropriate clothing options available for prom. If you have questions concerning your attire, it is your responsibility to seek prior approval from the administration. Prom is a formal event, and you are expected to wear formal attire. Formal prom attire may be classified as a dress, tuxedo, dress suit, including a tie or bow tie, a dress shirt, which may include a vest or cummerbund, and dress shoes (fashion sneakers are ok).
● Dresses may be strapless (if they fit properly) or include spaghetti straps.
● Dresses may be backless, as long as they are not cut below the naval.
● 2-piece dresses may only show a modest amount of midriff.
● Dresses may not have a slit that exceeds mid-thigh.
● Dresses may not be cut below the bust line.
● Dresses cannot have cuts, slits in them exposing skin underneath.
● Undergarments should not be visible. See-through apparel is not permitted.
● If you are bringing a date from another school, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Even though in the past, dress attire that did not meet this criterion may have been admitted, these criteria will be strictly adhered to beginning this year.
